The Hawk HPS 5.0 Front Brake Pads are a Ferro-Carbon compound upgrade designed for the 2015–2021 Subaru WRX with steel calipers. The HPS 5.0 is one step above the standard Hawk HPS compound, delivering increased brake torque, improved resistance to brake fade, and shorter stopping distances while maintaining street-friendly characteristics including low dust and minimal noise under normal driving conditions.
The Ferro-Carbon compound draws from aerospace and motorsports friction technology to deliver consistent pedal feel and braking response across a wide temperature range. The HPS 5.0 can handle light track use, but is not designed for sustained race sessions at high temperatures — it is optimized for aggressive street driving and occasional spirited use.
Important Note: These pads fit 2015–2021 WRX models with the standard steel calipers only. WRX models equipped with the Performance Package Brembo calipers require 2004–2017 STI fitment brake pads and are not compatible with this product. Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors — designed for iron and metal rotors only.

Will these fit my WRX if it has the Brembo Performance Package?
No. WRX models with the Performance Package Brembo calipers require 2004–2017 STI fitment brake pads. These pads are designed for the standard steel caliper WRX only. If you are unsure which calipers your WRX has, contact us before ordering.
What is the difference between HPS and HPS 5.0?
The HPS 5.0 delivers more brake torque and higher operating temperature tolerance than the standard HPS compound. It produces slightly more brake dust than the HPS but is still significantly cleaner than most race-oriented compounds.
Can these be used on the track?
The HPS 5.0 can handle light track use such as HPDE days, but is not designed for sustained race sessions at high temperatures. Monitor pad temperature and allow proper cool-down time if used on track.
Do I need to bed in these brake pads?
Yes. A proper bed-in procedure is recommended after installation to transfer an even layer of pad material onto the rotor surface, which improves braking performance and pad longevity.
Are these compatible with aftermarket rotors?
Yes, as long as the rotors are iron or metal. These pads are not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors.
