The Hawk HP Plus Rear Brake Pads are a Ferro-Carbon compound designed for 2008–2021 Subaru WRX, 2013–2020 BRZ, and 2009–2017 Forester owners who push their cars at autocross events, track days, and high-performance street driving. The HP Plus sits above the HPS 5.0 in Hawk’s compound lineup, delivering a very noticeable increase in brake torque and a higher temperature range than street-oriented pads.
The HP Plus compound was developed specifically for autocross and Solo II competition, where consistent braking performance under repeated heavy loads is critical. It can sustain the heat of a track session and get you home safely without needing to swap pads in between. The tradeoff compared to the HPS 5.0 is more noise, more brake dust, and a compound that performs best once it reaches operating temperature — making it better suited for drivers who use their car for both spirited street driving and occasional competition.
Important Note: These pads fit WRX models without Eyesight and without the Performance Package Brembo calipers. WRX models with Brembo calipers require 2004–2017 STI fitment pads. Expect increased brake noise and dust compared to street-oriented compounds — this is normal behavior for the HP Plus. Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors.

What is the difference between the HP Plus and the HPS 5.0?
The HP Plus is a more aggressive compound designed for autocross and track use. It delivers higher brake torque and a wider temperature range than the HPS 5.0 but produces more noise and brake dust. If you daily drive more than you track, the HPS 5.0 is the better choice. If autocross or track days are a regular part of your driving, the HP Plus is worth the tradeoff.
Will these pads be noisy on the street?
Yes. Some brake squeal is normal with the HP Plus compound, especially when the pads are cold. This is inherent to the higher friction material and is not a defect.
Will these fit my WRX if it has the Brembo Performance Package?
No. WRX models with the Performance Package Brembo calipers require 2004–2017 STI fitment brake pads. Contact us if you are unsure which calipers your WRX has.
Do I need to bed in these brake pads?
Yes. A proper bed-in procedure is required after installation to seat the compound correctly and maximize performance and pad longevity.
Can I use these for daily driving?
Yes, but expect more noise and dust than a street compound. The HP Plus is best suited for drivers who use their car for both street and competition use and want a single pad that handles both without swapping.
